Here we are at the end of another week of uncharacteristically hot UK weather - our new normal?! My sticky tape is just about surviving this time around 🙄

This week, though, I want to talk about pot plants.
​
Have you ever bought someone a lovely pot plant as a gift... and then simply handed it over in the bag it came in from the shop? 🪴
​

There's absolutely nothing wrong with that, of course. But what if you could make it look just a little bit more special?
​

Plants are an awkward shape to gift wrap, particularly when you don't want to completely cover what's inside. But you don't actually need to wrap the whole thing.
​

Instead, you can concentrate on the pot.
​

With some wrapping paper, tissue or another decorative material around the base, finished with ribbon or twine, you can turn an everyday pot plant into something that feels much more like a gift. 🎁
​

It's a simple idea, but one that can make a big difference to how your gift looks when you hand it over.
​
For this wrap, I've used:

• A square piece of gift wrapping paper, large enough to cover the pot
• Garden twine
• Gift tag (optional)
  ​

That’s it. You don’t need lots of materials to make the plant look a little more special, and you can simply change the paper and finishing touches to suit the person or occasion.

One extra tip: If your plant is particularly spiky, take the plant out of the pot before you start wrapping. It makes the whole thing much easier!
​

So next time you're giving someone a plant, perhaps don't automatically reach for the shop bag.
​

Give the pot a little gift wrapping treatment instead. 😊
