You don’t need to buy more to wrap beautifully ✨

Hello Reader,

If you've been a subscriber to my newsletter for a while, you'll know that one of the things I always say when it comes to gift wrapping is use what you already have. I usually remind you all about this around November/December time, in the run up to the busy festive period.

Beautiful wrapping doesn’t have to mean buying more, although I know how tempting it is (see last week’s newsletter on that one!).

Some of my favourite combinations come from things I already have at home… paper I’ve saved, ribbon from a previous gift, a linen-effect tablecloth or napkin… and at this time of year, a little bit of foliage or a flower from the garden 🌿

It adds such a simple, natural finish and makes everything feel a bit more thoughtful (and seasonal, without even trying too hard).

If you’ve got a pair of scissors and a garden, you’ve got everything you need. Even if you just have a few pots with herbs on the windowsill, herbs make great additions to any gift. My favourite is rosemary!

And on a slightly different note…

As I mentioned in last week's newsletter, I am running Boston Marathon this year. In just 2 days’ time, I’ll be on the start line 😳 (I start at about 4pm UK time).

After qualifying last year and not being able to go, this time I will be there. I'm both excited and totally terrified. This will be my 4th marathon and they don't get any easier. There are times during the run when I know I will be questioning my life choices!

My kit is ready 😃 Lilac shorts and shoes with a bright top to match! Very much like how I match ribbons, tags and gift wrap!

It feels quite special to finally be making it to the start line this time. I do have a minor injury in my left foot so just taking it steady and enjoying the atmosphere as much as I can.

I’ll share more when I’m back, but for now, I’m signing off for a few days rest before the race and to obsess about the weather 🌦️
